At Brighter Care ABA, sessions for a 3-year-old are designed to be structured yet natural, focusing on Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) within the comfort of the child’s home or school environment. These sessions are delivered 1:1 by a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
An ABA session for a preschooler typically includes:
- Natural Environment Teaching: Skills are practiced during daily routines such as mealtime, playtime, and bedtime. This helps the child learn in the exact context where they will use those skills, supporting real-world generalization.
- Targeting Developmental Milestones: Therapists focus on foundational skills like joint attention, imitation, turn-taking, and peer play. For example, a therapist might guide a child to initiate a greeting when a family member enters the room.
- Communication Building: Sessions prioritize building language, such as responding to one’s name and requesting items. If a child is not yet vocal, therapists may introduce picture exchange systems or augmentative communication tools.
- Data-Driven Progress: RBTs collect detailed data during every session, tracking progress on specific goals like following two-step instructions or sustaining attention. This data is reviewed regularly by the BCBA to adjust therapy as the child grows.
- Parent Involvement: Parent training is integrated into the model, allowing caregivers to observe strategies and learn how to reinforce these skills during everyday moments outside of formal session time.
