- Natural Environment Teaching: Skills are practiced during daily routines such as mealtime, playtime, and bedtime. This helps the child learn in the exact context where they will use those skills, supporting real-world generalization.
- Targeting Developmental Milestones: Therapists focus on foundational skills like joint attention, imitation, turn-taking, and peer play. For example, a therapist might guide a child to initiate a greeting when a family member enters the room.
- Communication Building: Sessions prioritize building language, such as responding to one’s name and requesting items. If a child is not yet vocal, therapists may introduce picture exchange systems or augmentative communication tools.
