- Start planning early: Begin the transition process at least three months before the anticipated start date in the public preschool classroom.
- Conduct a school readiness assessment: Your Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) can identify specific supports your child may need, such as visual schedules, social stories, or the presence of a shadow aide.
- Practice school routines at home: Help your child build confidence by role-playing common school activities, including circle time, following group instructions, and managing transitions between tasks.
