During the assessment, you can expect the following components:
- Caregiver Interview: We start by listening to you. As we believe WE COUNT ON OUR PARENTS, we gather detailed insights into your child’s communication, social skills, daily routines, and developmental history.
- Direct Observation: A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will observe and interact with your child through play in your home. This allows us to see how they interact in a comfortable, familiar setting.
- VB-MAPP Assessment: We use this evidence-based tool to evaluate verbal behavior, language, and social milestones. It helps us identify specific learning barriers and readiness for transition to different educational settings.
- Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA): This process identifies the “why” behind challenging behaviors. By understanding the purpose of these behaviors, we can develop a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) to teach positive replacement skills.
- Individualized Planning: The information gathered forms a blueprint for a treatment plan with measurable goals targeting skills like self-care, communication, and play.
