Based on the standards set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) requires the following supervision hours:
- Monthly Percentage: At least 5% of the total service hours delivered by an RBT each month must be supervised by a qualified professional.
- Per Client Minimum: There must be a minimum of one hour of supervision per month per client served by the RBT.
- Supervision Activities: This oversight includes direct observation of sessions in real time, modeling of new techniques, and procedural fidelity checks to ensure the treatment plan is implemented correctly.
- Qualified Supervisors: Supervision can be provided by a BCBA, BCBA-D, or a BCaBA who has completed the additional mandated supervision training.
- Documentation: RBTs are required to maintain monthly supervision records signed by both themselves and their supervisor to verify compliance with these standards.
